About Claire Seel

I have been working as a Counsellor for the past 16 years. Prior to this, I was a Registered Nurse for many years. My experience as a nurse provided me with a real understanding of the relationship between our physical and mental health, and the transition to counselling was a natural progression.

In my counselling work, I utilise many of the interpersonal skills I learned in working alongside vulnerable individuals as a nurse. As well as working in private practice for the past year, my other counselling experience includes working in an Auckland high school supporting both students and staff, and setting up and running grief support services for bereaved families.

As a person-centred counsellor, I use a variety of counselling approaches tailored to your needs and I also integrate coaching and strength-based strategies where appropriate. I undertake regular supervision to ensure safe practice and compliance with the Code of Ethics mandated by my professional body, the New Zealand Association of Counsellors (NZAC).

If you choose to work with me, you can expect a space where your thoughts and feelings are genuinely valued and heard. My focus is on creating a non-judgmental, inclusive, and empathetic environment where you can openly discuss your challenges. I am committed to prioritising your voice and needs and working with you collaboratively to identify strategies to help you navigate life’s challenges.
